L Rai, Tere Ishk Mein director, has landed in legal trouble after Eros International Media filed a Rs 84 crore lawsuit over alleged trademark infringement and copyright infringement in a commercial IP suit and a related interim application. According to Eros, Tere Ishk Mein is presented as a 'spiritual sequel' to Raanjhanaa without permission. Furthermore, they have unlawfully used a intellectual property for the promotions of the film, Tere Ishk Mein. But now, the director has broken his silence, calmly handling the situation and calling it a 'part of life'.

While talking to NDTV, Aanand L Rai has acknowledged the Rs 84 crore lawsuit filed by Raanjhanaa production company, Eros International Media. Calling it a part of life, he added, "When you step into business, such things keep happening. I don’t even know why, how, or from where this has come. But I think it is a legal matter, so let the legal people handle it. There is a lawyer on their side, and a lawyer from here will respond too."The director further addressed the situation lightly, stating that such things happen and that the matter is best left to the lawyers. He continued saying, "I don’t think it has any meaning. Anyone can say anything about anything at any time. So it’s not something to be taken too seriously. It’s more for the lawyers to deal with. Since it’s a legal matter, I won’t speak much about it, but it’s nothing serious."

The defendants also include Super Cassettes Industries (T-Series), writer Himanshu Sharma, and Netflix Entertainment Services India LLP. Eros International Media further pointed out that Colour Yellow Productions used hashtags like 'World Of Raanjhanaa' in the promotional material for Tere Ishk Mein. Eros further claimed that after a cease-and-desist notice dated July 25, 2025, was issued, some references were removed from the promotional assets, but the film still had its roots connected to Raanjhanaa.
