The Telugu version of the film is titled Annagaru Vostaru. The makers also shared that Annagaru Vostaru will release in December, without revealing a release date.Va Vaathiyaar marks Karthi’s 27th film in his career and it revolves around a fanatic fan of legendary actor MGR, who raises his grandson like MGR. The teaser of Vaa Vaathiyaar featured scenes of Karthi's character, who takes charge as a cop, shown to be flamboyant and greeted with a grand welcome.

The supporting cast of the film include Anandaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, GM Sundar, Vadivukarasi, and Madhur Mittal, among others.Vaa Vaathiyaar features music by Santhosh Narayanan in his third collaboration with Nalan Kumarasamy after Soodhu Kavvum (2013) and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum (2016).
