Ahead of the upcoming Tamil release Jana Nayagan on January 9, Sivakarthikeyan, whose upcoming film Parasakthi is also releasing during the same time recently broke his silence on the box office clash.
During a recent audio launch event, the actor mentioned that he was in 'shock' when Jana Nayagan team also announced the release date during that time. He further mentioned about calling the producers of Thalapathy starrer to change the dates to avoid the clash. For the unversed, Parasakthi marks Sreeleela's Tamil debut.
Sivakarthikeyan on Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi box office clash
At the pre-release event, Sivakarthikeyan gave his words on the box office clash between his film Parasakthi and Vijay's last release before retirement,
Jana Nayagan. He started with mentioning the process of the date finalisation saying, "We initially planned to release Parasakthi for Diwali 2025, but at that time, the Jana Nayagan team had already locked the Diwali release date. So, we decided against it and continued working on our film, keeping Pongal in mind. However, suddenly, the Jana Nayagan team also pushed their release to Pongal. I felt shocked.”He also spoke about taking the concern to their team for some adjustments mentioning that, "Parasakthi and Jana Nayagan are releasing together, with this one even being promoted as Vijay sir’s last film. You may not have a problem at the box office, but I will. Could you please ask sir about it once?’ He went and asked Vijay sir and called me back five minutes later." But the superstar felt that both the films have enough space and will not affect the box office of any one. So, in conclusion, what I want to say is this: Everyone, please go watch and enjoy Jana Nayagan on January 9 and celebrate it. We are talking about a man who has entertained us for 33 years. Then, on January 10, come and watch Parasakthi and celebrate that too,” SK added.Parasakthi is a political action thriller, set in the 1960s, and is directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Aakash Bhaskaran of Dawn Pictures. Meanwhile Jana Narayan, directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions stars Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani. It is intended to be the final film appearance of Vijay before his entry into politics, and KVN Productions' first production in Tamil.
