superstar Ajith Kumar's mother Mohini Mani passed away peacefully in her sleep, after a prolonged illness, on May 30. She was 89. After the news of her passing was posted by Ajith's brother Anil Kumar, an outpouring of condolences was shared by several South personalities. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay; veteran actor Kamal Haasan; and other political leaders MK Stalin, Edappadi K. Palanisamy, and Seeman posted their respects to the family. Now, Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Pawan Kalyan has taken to social media to share his deepest condolences to the Tamil actor and his family.
Pawan Kalyan sends condolences to Ajith and his family
On X (formerly Twitter), Pawan Kalyan wrote that he was deeply saddened to learn about the death of Ajith Kumar's mother Mohini Mani. In Telugu, the actor-turned-politician stated that he would pray to God that Smt. Mohini Mani garu's soul would attain eternal peace. He hoped that Ajith would recover swiftly from the grief of losing his mother and conveyed his deepest condolences to his family.
Ajith Kumar was not in the country when his mother passed away and rushed back to Chennai from Dubai after he heard the news. Later, in the night, Ajith was visited by
CM Vijay and Trisha Krishnan at his home. The video of the two co-stars embracing has gone viral. Vijay's Leo co-star Trisha is also seen in the video, standing behind them. Ajith also embraced Trisha, who had accompanied Vijay to convey her condolences to her Good Bad Ugly co-star.
His mother's last rites were done in a private ceremony at the Besant Nagar Electric crematorium on Sunday morning (May 31). Only close family members and friends were present at the funeral. The matriarch passed away three years after her husband, P. Subramaniam; he was 85 when he died. She is survived by her three sons, Anup Kumar, Ajith Kumar, and Anil Kumar.
