In these past seasons, Benedict has been avoiding marriage and love and dabbling in affairs with men and women while pursuing his love for art. But that changes once his mother Violet (Ruth Gemmell) gives him an ultimatum at her famous annual masquerade ball; he meets the Lady in Silver who turns his life upside down. Actor Thompson told Tudum, "We’ve experienced Benedict through the seasons as a little theme that crops up occasionally now and again. To get to spend a full eight episodes digging into him and making a whole symphony about him, it’s great.”Yerin Ha plays the lady in question, Sophie Baek, whose stepmother, Lady Araminta (Katie Leung), has turned her into a maid. She sneaks away to the ball to enjoy life but ends up meeting Benedict in the Cinderella story. After she leaves, a glove is left behind, the only clue for Benedict to follow. Later, Sophie ends up being a maid in the Bridgerton house, but Benedict no longer recognises her without the mask. How will they find each other again? Michelle Mao and Isabella Wei play Sophie's stepsisters, while Claudia Jessie, Hannah Dodd, Victor Ali, Luke Newton, Nicola Coughlan, Jonathan Bailey, and Simone Ashley are also set to return in the upcoming season. The first four episodes of Part 1 will be out on January 29 on Netflix.
