Times Now
Kangana Ranaut landed in hot water after her tweet regarding the farmers’ protest went viral. The complaint filed in 2021 accused the actress-politician of wrongly identifying Mahinder Kaur as Bilkis Bano,
the activist involved in the Shaheen Bagh protests. The elderly lady accused Kangana of 'false imputations and remarks' that unfairly compared her to Shaheen Bagh ‘dadi’. On Monday, the Bathinda court granted bail to Kangana.

Addressing reporters outside the court, Kangana, who is currently serving as Mandi’s MP, said, “I feel very nice after coming to Bathinda today. As you can see, there’s a huge crowd here, my fans have gathered to meet me. Apart from this, I sent a message to Mataji’s (the farmer activist) husband for the misunderstanding. I could not have imagined, even in my dreams, this controversy. Every mata, be she from Punjab or Himachal, is respectable to me.”ALSO READ: Kangana Ranaut Thanks Rishab Shetty: Kantara Chapter 1 'Bringing Tribal Stories To The World' She further added, “If you look at the case closely, there was nothing original added from my end. There was a retweet that was used as a meme. I discussed this with Mahinder’s husband. There were so many protests happening nationwide, and someone had commented on a generalised meme. The controversy was over this. I expressed regret over the misunderstanding.” Advocate Raghubir Singh Beniwal, who represented Mahinder Kaur in court, stated, “Kangana came in after summon orders were issued to her. This was to take bail and furnish the bail bond. Inside the court, she said she wanted to apologise to the complainant as this was because of a misunderstanding. But today, Mahinder Kaur was unwell, her husband was present instead. It was not just about her but also about the farmers; there were scores of them protesting. So, when the court asked Mahinder’s husband, he said he cannot decide and would discuss the matter with Kisan unions and others before reverting."
Conflicts
On the other hand, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leader Manjeet Rai demanded Kangana to apologise to Mahinder Kaur in person. The farmer leader said, "Kangana apologised when summoned by the court, but did not apologise when we asked her to. Kangana should go to the house of the woman about whom the words were spoken and apologise by holding her feet.” According to reports, the next date in the case is scheduled for November 24.
