About Amar Singh Chamkila
Imtiaz Ali’s Netflix biopic,
Amar Singh Chamkila, was nominated for the International Emmys in two categories. Diljit Dosanjh competed in the Best Performance by an Actor category, whereas the film was only Indian title nominated under the TV Movie/Mini-Series category. Though he lost the trophy to Oriol Pla, Diljit recalled playing Amar Singh Chamkila, a popular Punjabi folk singer who was assassinated along with his wife.
Amar Singh Chamkila, directed by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Mohit Choudhary, Select Media Holdings LLP, Saregama, and Window Seat Films, also starred Parineeti Chopra. It released on Netflix in 2024.
