one of the most unexpected moments to come out of the ongoing Middle East crisis, the Consulate General of Iran in Mumbai turned to Bollywood to send a message to the United States. Taking to X, the consulate quoted one of Shah Rukh Khan's most iconic dialogues — 'Abhi toh sirf trailer hai, picture abhi baaki hai' - in a direct response to US President Donald Trump's claims about Iran's navy being finished. The post went viral almost instantly, with Indians and Bollywood fans across the world reacting with surprise.
Iran Consulate In Mumbai Echoes SRK Dialogue
The consulate's post on X read, "Hormuz - 'Red bees of the Persian Gulf' - yeah, the fast missile boats are warming up. Funny how Trump kept claiming Iran's navy was 'finished'... now they're about to find out how a swarm can pin you down real quick. Abhi toh sirf trailer hai, picture abhi baaki hai."
The SRK dialogue roughly translates to 'this was just the trailer, the real story is yet to come'. This is not the first time the Mumbai consulate has grabbed attention online. Iranian consulates worldwide have been actively running witty and sarcastic social media campaigns in response to escalating rhetoric from Trump. The Mumbai consulate in particular has built a reputation for using Indian pop culture references to connect with a local audience. On April 5, Trump had issued a strongly worded post on Truth Social, threatening to destroy Iranian infrastructure unless Tehran agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The consulate's Bollywood-flavoured reply was seen as a direct counter to that threat.
