Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg remember Catherine O’Hara after DGA win for The Studio
After winning their first Directors Guild of America award for
The Studio, the longtime collaborators and friends honoured O’Hara on the podium. Rogen told the audience that the family film
Home Alone made him want to make movies when he was younger. He recalled that in the comedy directed by Chris Columbus, O’Hara’s character was always yelling “Kevin, Kevin” at her errant son, played by Macaulay Culkin. On The Studio set, she yelled, “Evan, Evan,” and they felt that it was like Home Alone.
Goldberg also shared that the actress was “an utter genius and also the nicest person in the entire world.” Rogen added that they worked hard every day to make the show good enough to warrant the veteran’s time and presence. They ended their speech thanking O’Hara.
About The Studio
The Emmy-winning comedy series features Rogen as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios. He and his core team of executives work with actors and filmmakers to make great movies. Of course, they face a comedy of errors in trying to get those films made. O’Hara played Patty Leigh, a high-powered studio executive and Remick’s mentor. She is nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series at the upcoming Actor Awards.
The Studio Season 2
The second season of the Apple TV comedy began in mid-January. According to a report in the
Daily Mail, the actress was supposed to appear in a few early scenes but dropped out due to “personal matters”. A source told
The Sun that O’Hara was scheduled to shoot for the series and reprise her role as Leigh, but the show reworked the schedule to work around her character.
