Nivin Pauly, who was caught in a legal issue with producer PS Shamnas has got a relief after Kerala court ordered criminal proceedings against the producer. A Vaikom court in Kerala named film producer PS Shamnas for submitting a false affidavit in a case involving Nivin Pauly. The court found that Shamnas had provided misleading information in his sworn statement, which led to the registration of an FIR against Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine. PS Shamnas had filed a private complaint claiming that Nivin Pauly and Abrid Shine had allegedly cheated him out of around Rs 1.9 crore. Based on this complaint and the affidavit, the police registered a case. In response, Nivin Pauly filed a counter-complaint, alleging that his signature had been
forged. During the review, the magistrate discovered that Shamnas had claimed in his affidavit that no other legal disputes existed between the parties, which was false.

A related case was already pending in the Ernakulam Commercial Court, and an injunction had been issued against Shamnas. The magistrate noted that withholding this information undermined the judicial process and constituted giving false evidence under oath. The court has asked its Junior Superintendent to file a criminal case against Shamnas under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which deals with giving false statements. These rules make sure that affidavits and court documents are truthful, and anyone lying under oath can be punished.
