Michael Jackson Estate Case: Daughter Paris' Team Issues Statement After Court Dismisses Portions Of Her Petition,
Times Now
The complications in the late legendary singer and dancer Michael Jackson's estate case continue to rise for his daughter Paris Jackson. Paris had previously filed a petition against her late father Michael Jackson’s
estate, which continues to generate significant revenue. However, the petition has recently faced a major hurdle, with portions of it being struck down by a judge. Here’s what happened.
Court dismissed Paris Jackson's petition
According to People, Paris Jackson had filed the petition over alleged mismanagement of funds by the estate. Retired judge and Los Angeles Referee Mitchell L. Beckloff has partially struck down the petition, siding with the estate’s executors, John Branca and John McClain.Paris’s legal team responded, emphasising that they remain undeterred. In a statement, they said, "This order is limited to minor procedural issues and does not change the facts: the pattern of behaviour displayed by the executors and their attorneys raises significant red flags, and Paris will continue working to ensure her family is treated fairly. We will be submitting an updated filing shortly."The petition originally requested the court to revisit the 2010 case order that allows the estate’s executors to pay their lawyers “on account,” or without prior court approval in certain instances. Paris also sought that formal procedures be followed for attorney compensation and reimbursement of costs for the years 2019 through 2023, requesting the estate to file petitions for approval within 90 days.ALSO READ:Michael Jackson's Biopic Teaser Breaks Record, Surpasses Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour Trailer With 116 Million Views
What Portions were dismissed
The parts of the petition that were dismissed did not challenge the allegations of fund mismanagement. Instead, they questioned the timeline presented by Paris’s legal team regarding some of the estate’s filings in probate court.
Know why the petition was filed
Paris filed the petition on behalf of herself and her siblings, Bigi and Prince, as beneficiaries of their father’s estate. The trio argued that delays in fee approvals and a lack of transparency from the executors had prevented them from understanding how the estate’s funds and revenue were being managed, potentially causing them financial harm.Despite the recent ruling by court, Paris Jackson and her legal team plan to move forward with an updated filing to continue pursuing accountability from the estate’s executors.
