Kumar and Saif Ali Khan have reunited after a long time for Priyadarshan's Haiwaan. The film, featuring them in key roles, is one of the most anticipated projects of this year. The thriller will be released in 2026, but the makers haven't officially announced its release date yet. Amid this, writer Rohan Shankar has revealed that Haiwaan has been adapted from Priyadarshan's Malayalam film, Oppam. Starring Mohanlal in the lead role, the neo-noir crime thriller hit the big screen in 2016. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Rohan revealed Mohanlal's major connection to Saif's role in Haiwaan.

Oppam was a big super-hit thriller with Priyan sir and Mohanlal sir. It was made 10 to 12 years ago. After Drishyam, it came there in Malayalam. It's a very big hit and a good thriller."
Spilling beans about
Haiwaan, the writer further revealed, "In
Haiwaan, Saif Ali Khan is playing Mohanlal's character as a blind guy. And as a villain, we have Akshay Kumar. So, a lot of things have changed." Rohan added that the film has other 'great cast' members and the film was adapted in Mumbai for the Hindi audience.The writer shared that
Haiwaan is a 'slow-paced thriller' with a lot of mystery and action. It is visually good film, he stated. Rohan continued to mention, "I didn't do that space before; it was a first for me. I had done comedy, but I didn't do the space which Haiwaan belongs to. Writing Haiwaan and being on the shoot with Priyan sir, witnessing everything, that tense atmosphere, and how he shoots it - it was a new experience for me."
