For
Marvel fans, the Easter celebration came with a special surprise. Avengers: Doomsday that has kept every MCU geek on their toes, is just a few months away from its grand theatrical release and Robert Downey Jr dropped a tease when it was least expected. Famous as Iron Man, he hung up his suit after Avengers: Endgame in 2019, only to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom this year. The challenge isn’t limited to whether RDJ makes a place for the new characters in the hearts of the audience, but also will Avengers: Doomsday revive MCU’s lost glory.
Doctor Doom shares Easter Eggs
Amid skyrocketing expectations and fan theories, Robert shared a graphic poster on Instagram to celebrate Easter. The much-discussed and decoded image features
Doctor Doom holding a basket of several Easter Eggs. Each has symbols of numerous Marvel characters that could likely appear in
Avengers: Doomsday.
What does Doctor Doom's Easter basket include?
Doctor Doom’s basket included eggs featuring symbols of
Captain America's shield, Loki’s helmet, Black Panther, the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Namor, and Shang-Chi. The two eggs dedicated to Spider-Man hint at Andrew Garfield’s return to the MCU. Tom Holland, who played Peter Parker in
Spider-Man: No Way Home will not be featured in the film, considering how the superhero movie concluded.
Captain America's comeback
One of the teasers of
Avengers: Doomsday confirmed
Chris Evans’ return as Steve Rogers, a.k.a Captain America. In the promo, Steve could be seen parking his car outside a wooden house. He enters the villa and touches his Captain America suit. He keeps it back and holds a newborn baby. While doing so, he smiles and gets emotional. The teaser ends with, “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday."
X-Men assemble for war
X-Men characters Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen) and Cyclops (James Marsden) feature in another Avengers: Doomsday teaser that premiered earlier this year. They would be joining the battle against Doctor Doom alongside Captain America (Chris Evans) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth).
What's the future of Black Panther?
Black Panther, one of the key links within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, underwent a massive transformation with Chadwick Boseman’s untimely death. After
Wakanda Forever, the story continues and the route to the next film in the franchise could be through
Avengers: Doomsday. It is expected to be a part of Marvel's Phase 7 after Secret Wars. Shuri, who becomes the new Black Panther after her mother and brother’s deaths, has defeated Namor. But is that the end of the rivalry?
The Fantastic Four's debut
The Fantastic Four family made its MCU debut. Now, they will be teaming up with the superheroes to battle Doctor Doom. In a teaser, Ben Grimm's interaction with the Wakandans hints that they are aware of the world and the events that have unfolded in the past. Fantastic Four's universe could merge with the MCU hereon.
