updates from the Varanasi trailer launch event at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad are now facing backlash. SS Rajamouli’s film event is being targeted due to technical difficulties, and he also mentioned that the video was leaked while they were testing it at 2 a.m.

At the event, Varanasi director SS Rajamouli mentioned about the trailer leak video which surfaced on the internet just before the grand Globetrotter event. He said, "It took us 45 generators to power the screen. We were supposed to test our video last night, we worked till after midnight till 2 AM. We don't know where people came from. They started flying drones and shooting the footage. That is a year of hard work of many people, thousands of man power and crores of rupees. People worked day and night for this. Because of that we didn't have the chance to even test our video. So we took a chance. Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is set to play the lead role of Kumbha, shared, "Five minutes into the narration I was blown away and for the rest of the three hours, I listen to it, not as an actor, listening to a narration pitch, but more like a little boy whose got his hands on the next edition of his favourite comic book. The scale, the vision, the ambition – everything was India’s greatest contemporary mainstream filmmaker pushing his own limits to never before territory, but truly took my breath away was audacity of the imagination."The film is set to release in theatres on Sankranti 2027.
