About Drishyam 3
The film went on floors with a pooja ceremony near Kochi and was shot across scenic locations like Thodupuzha, Vagamon, and Ernakulam. Mohanlal completed his portions in December last year. Originally planned for an April 2 release, the film was postponed due to external factors, including tensions in the Gulf region. It is now set to hit theatres on May 21, 2026, a date that coincides with Mohanlal’s 66th birthday.
The Drishyam franchise is widely regarded as one of the most successful crime thriller series in Indian cinema. The first film, released in 2013, introduced audiences to Georgekutty, a simple cable TV operator whose life takes a dramatic turn. The sequel, released in 2021 on OTT continued the gripping story and was equally well received.
The film has already created waves internationally, especially in the UK market. Advance bookings have opened nearly four weeks ahead of release, an unusual move for an Indian film. The social media team of the distributor posted the update. Backed by a Rs 100 crore investment from PEN Studios in collaboration with Aashirvad Cinemas and Panorama Studios, the film is set to be a money spinner.
