In an interview with Zoom, the former beauty queen Vartika spoke about her determination to get the role. She said, "A movie like Haq you really have to prove yourself. When I tested for the film, there was a process. The whole audition process itself I remember how invested I was. She continued, "When I actually read the script, read the scenes that I was given, it just challenged me so much. Then I decided, I am going to give it all. I remember I shopped for Saira. I got a certain outfit made for Saira. I put together a whole look that I thought Saira would look like in my head because that was my interpretation. I would write her thoughts, what would Saira feel and why is she doing this. I prepared everything and that's when I auditioned for it. Nothing is easy; you really have to work for it, especially when you are an outsider. Nothing comes easy." Saira is somebody who is educated, and she's a little polished as well. She also comes from the 1980s, so you also have to keep that in mind. We did have a diction coach; he's helped me so much on the set. One thing that helped me is coming from Lucknow; I'm really glad that my upbringing happened there. I saw a lot of people speak similarly, more or less.Haq also stars Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Husain, and Aseem Hattangady. The courtroom drama is written by Reshu Nath.
