has been a “magical” May for Trisha Krishnan, who recently described the month as special while sharing behind-the-scenes moments from Karuppu on social media. Trisha's post comes after the film achieved overwhelming success at the box office making it 2026' highest grossing Tamil film. Directed byRJ Balaji, the film features her as a lawyer named Preethy and reunites her with Suriya after earlier films like Mounam Pesiyadhe and Aaru. Their reunion received praise from fans, with many saying it added a nostalgic charm to the film. Despite releasing after a delay, Karuppu is performing well at the box office.
Trisha Shares Special Moments From Karuppu: Why Is May Special for the Actor?
Taking to social media, Trisha posted a series of unseen images from the sets of Karuppu. One image showed Trisha interacting with Suriya and RJ Balaji, while another featured the actress in a green saree dancing to a song from the film. She also shared pictures of herself enjoying tea during work breaks, along with candid moments from the sets.The caption read, “My magical May said, one more for the win. Just God things #Karuppu.” She tagged Suriya, RJ Balaji, and cinematographer GK Vishnu, while also adding evil-eye emojis to the post.
The film’s release period coincided with Joseph Vijay’s political success with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Interestingly, the victory also arrived on Trisha Krishnan’s birthday on May 4. Several celebrities, including Lakshmi Manchu and Charmme Kaur, shared birthday wishes that indirectly referred to Vijay’s political milestone as a “gift” for Trisha.
The film marked Trisha’s first major release of the year. It is also the first Tamil film to release after Thalapathy Vijay assumed office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The makers even obtained permission from him to screen special 9 am shows of the film. Despite this, the movie did not release on its scheduled date of May 14 and instead hit theatres on May 15. Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Meets Team Karuppu
The makers of Karuppu met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay at his office. Later, they shared a picture with him on the film’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle. The team said they were overjoyed that the Chief Minister had extended his heartfelt wishes and also congratulated producer S R Prabhu on the film’s success.
Apart from Suriya and Trisha,
Karuppu also features a strong supporting cast including Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, and Supreeth Reddy.
