L366: Mohanlal Returns To Cop Role After Three Years In Tharun Moorthy’s Film

is back in khaki uniform after a three-year gap, and fans couldn’t be more excited. The Malayalam superstar has begun shooting for L366, his second collaboration with director Tharun Moorthy after the massive success of Thudarum in 2025. The film went on floors on January 23 in Thodupuzha, Kerala with Mohanlal sporting a classic twirled-moustache look that immediately sparked nostalgia among fans. Expressing gratitude as he joined the sets, the actor called the project as a new journey filled with blessings and positivity.

Stepping onto the sets, Mohanlal shared a message of gratitude, calling the film a new beginning. Photos from the shoot soon surfaced online, showing the actor in a relaxed, cheerful mood as he interacted with the team. The images worked strongly with fans , particularly those nostalgic for his vintage screen presence, which been hailed as followers as some of his most memorable roles. For the unversed, Mohanlal last played Shivdev IPS, Additional Director of Central Crime Branch in Monster which released in 2022.

L366 is written by Ratheesh Ravi, a storyteller celebrated for his grounded and character-focused narratives. Ravi’s filmography includes Pullokkaran Stara, Ishq, Adi, and Alappuzha Gymkhana, films that have earned praise for their realism. His involvement has further heightened expectations that L366 will offer more than a conventional cop drama. The film also brings together a powerful technical crew. Cinematographer Shaji Kumar and music composer Jakes Bejoy, who were part of Thudarum, return to collaborate with Moorthy once again. Editing is handled by National Award winner Vivek Harshan, known for his work in Jigarthanda, Manjummel Boys, and Aavesham, while sound design is by National Award–winning technician Vishnu Govind. Costume designer Mashar Hamsa, production designer Gokuldas, and makeup artist Ronex Xavier further strengthen the project’s technical section.

Mohanlal is set to appear in Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, which boasts a star-studded ensemble featuring Mammootty, Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil, and Kunchacko Boban. His daughter Vismaya is gearing up for her acting debut in Jude Anthany Joseph’s Thudakkam.
