In
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the webslinger is constantly on the streets, protecting New York City against any and all threats. Tom Holland, who returns for the fourth time as Peter Parker, reveals in a new behind-the-scenes featurette how the production has relied on practical production tricks. This means that Holland suited up as Spider-Man and actually swung down the streets in the UK where it was filmed. Director Destin Daniel Cretton also revealed how crowds gathered to cheer on the film shoot, giving the crew an extra boost while filming. Check out the BTS video below!
Spider-Man Brand New Day's practical filming BTS
In the new video, Holland touted the stunts on the fourth Spider-Man film as the best he had seen. The video shows Holland as the costumed superhero ready to 'swing' into action. He is shown being thrown around, getting on top of cars with explosions around him and swinging from building to building in New York City. Holland said, "It's going to allow audiences to be a part of this experience." Of course,
Brand New Day was actually shot in Glasgow, Scotland, which serves as a stand-in for the Big Apple.
The Marvel and Sony Pictures co-production releases in theatres on July 31, 2026. Cretton shared that thousands of fans lined the streets of Glasgow to watch them shoot. "It was a really lovely reminder to all of us how much this movie means to a lot of people," he added.
New Spider-Man Brand New Day poster
Along with the new video, a new poster of the upcoming film was unveiled that puts the focus on the Spider-Man costume and logo. We only see half of Holland's face as the poster reminds viewers that the world has forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.
Brand New Day picks up four years after Peter saved the multiverse. He sacrificed his personal life to save his identity and the city of New York. His best friend Ned Lees (Jacob Batalon) and former girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) are now college students, while Peter is now a full-time superhero. He now goes up against Frank Castle (
Jon Bernthal) and tries to stop Scorpion (Michael Mando). But as his powers evolve, a new threat emerges and Peter needs to find a way to save himself. Written by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Stan Lee,
Spider-Man: Brand New Day also stars Mark Ruffalo, Sadie Sink, and Tramell Tillman. Cretton is the co-creator of
Wonder Man and director of
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), starring Simu Liu.
