Allu
Arjun’s first look from his upcoming film with director Atlee was unveiled on April 8, coinciding with his birthday, and it quickly went viral. In the poster, Arjun appears bald, kohl-eyed, staring intensely into the camera, and sporting animal-like claws. Fans wondered about the film’s title, Raaka, and whether it refers to Arjun’s character, questioning its meaning. The Raaka makers have stated that the title of the film was deliberately chosen to emulate the success of the Pushpa franchise, where Arjun's character became the identity of the film.
How is Raaka and Pushpa connected?
Hindustan Times reported that as per an independent industry source, the team behind
Raaka deliberately chose to anchor the film around its lead character, following the remarkable cultural impact of the
Pushpa series.
Allu Arjun transformed his character into more than just a name, it created a nationwide sensation. Now, with
Raaka, the filmmakers are aiming to recreate that effect, crafting a story where the essence of the character drives the film’s identity.
On the other hand, the poster of
Raaka hinted at a striking new look for the actor, with forehead markings reminiscent of Viking tattoos. Beyond this visual, details about the film remain under wraps along with full cast.
Raaka is helmed by Atlee, produced by Sun Pictures, and will feature Deepika Padukone in a key role.
Atlee on Raaka
After revealing the first look of
Raaka, Atlee said on his X account that the film wasn’t just a movie, but a part of him that he had carried for years. He mentioned that for 18 years he held on to an idea and never let it fade. He added that it has tested him, shaped him and stayed with him through it all, and to be honest, this is just the beginning. The production house stated that
Raaka was a collaboration born of the highest ambitions in Indian cinema. They believed that it would not only redefine the scope of their creations, but also establish Indian cinema's rightful place in the world of entertainment. They also mentioned that the music for the film was composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
Meanwhile, reports suggested that Allu Arjun is likely to be seen in a potential triple role (including a werewolf and a scientist) as a divine warrior rising to restore balance to a chaotic world. The film deals with concepts such as parallel universes and time travel, marking a high-concept directorial venture for Atlee.
