With
the upcoming film The Beatles, a biopic on the life of all the four members of the pop music group, our Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar is all set to expand his horizon and make his Hollywood debut. A Four Film Cinematic Event from Oscar winning filmmaker Sam Mendes, The Beatles will feather Akhtar as Bharat Ratna awardee and legendary sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar. Set for a theatrical release in April 2028, the films are produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment, Neal Street Productions, and Apple Corps. It must be noted that all four films, to be told from each member's perspective, will be released at once.
Farhan Akhtar to make Hollywood debut
With Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, all the four films will be based on the
four members of the rock band. Makers are set to release all of them together on April 7,2028. Now the new casting with supporting actors has been announced with an exciting update as Farhan Akhtar will be seen portraying Ravi Shankar. Along with this, there will be Lucy Boynton as Jane Asher, Morfydd Clark as Cynthia (Powell) Lennon and Harry Lawtey as Stuart Sutcliffe (The Fifth Beatle’ and the band’s original bass guitarist who left the band to paint in 1961).
Akhtar's role is of a classical musician who profoundly influenced George Harrison. Their collaboration introduced Indian classical music to Western audiences and inspired The Beatles to incorporate instruments like the sitar and tabla, most notably in songs such as Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown), shaping a new psychedelic sound.

The films also have an ensemble cast including Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, James Norton as Brian Epstein, and Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono. Other members are Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey, and Harry Lloyd as producer George Martin.
