Legal trouble seems to loom larger for Thalapathy Vijay’s much-anticipated Tamil film Jana Nayagan. The movie continues to face uncertainty as certification delays push its release further into limbo. Touted as a landmark project in the superstar’s career and widely believed to be his final film before stepping fully into politics, the movie has remained in headlines for reasons beyond its cinematic promise. After its scheduled theatrical release was postponed from January 9, legal developments have now taken centre stage. With the Madras High Court staying an earlier order that favoured the film’s clearance, the makers have approached the Supreme Court seeking relief. The uncertainty surrounding the film’s clearance has now reached the Supreme Court,
which is scheduled to hear the plea filed by the makers on January 15. The update comes as a good news for fans as previous tentative date for hearing in the case was reportedly January 19,2026.

According to a recent report, the bench SLP has been listed for hearing before Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih. The hearing is expected to take place on January 15.
