Chris Hemsworth is also returning to reprise his role as the god of Thunder in this epic new saga of the Avengers franchise. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is set to release in theatres on December 18, 2026, and will feature several of Marvel's biggest stars as they take on Robert Downey Jr's Doctor Doom. Avengers Doomsday trailer featuring Chris Hemsworth as Thor

The new teaser was released online with just the release date of the film. The second teaser is entirely focused on Hemsworth's Thor, who has a new mission in his life, to protect his adopted daughter, Love, played by the actor's real-life daughter, India Hemsworth. He and Love now live in a secluded cabin in the forest.

Out in the woods, Thor says a prayer to his father, Odin, before heading out to battle. He says that he has always answered every call to war. However, now fate has given him something he never sought out, with his young daughter. He pleads, "Lend me the strength of the all-Fathers so that I may fight once more. Defeat one more enemy and return home to her. Not as a warrior but as warmth. To teach her not battle but stillness. The kind I never knew. Please, Father, heed my words." Interestingly, both teaser trailers of Avengers: Doomsday show the original Avengers now dealing with fatherhood. Who is Thor's daughter Love? Love's real father is Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale. The villain of the 2022 film Thor: Love and Thunder, Gorr wanted revenge on Thor after his daughter died. In the film's finale, Gorr managed to resurrect Love before his death. He made Thor promise to look after Love as his own child. The Norse god takes her along on his adventures as she handles his Stormbreaker hammer.
