Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty’s Border 2 evoked nostalgia and made the audience emotional by taking the franchise’s legacy forward. As a tribute to the 1997 JP Dutta film, the makers recreated iconic songs, Sandese Aate Hai and Jaate Hue Lamhon, for the next generation audience. Picturised on the lead actors, the tracks are crucial to the narrative. While Sandese Aate Hai has been renamed as Ghar Kab Aaoge, Jaate Hue Lamhon has new vocals too. The latter, originally sung by Roopkumar Rathod, plays in the background during an emotional scene between the officers and their families.

Jaate Hue Lamhon originally featured in Border and was picturised on Suniel Shetty and Sharbani Mukerji. In the spiritual sequel, Varun-Medha Rana, Diljit Dosanjh-Sonam Bajwa and Ahan-Anya Singh are in the frame. Vishal Mishra joins Roopkumar Rathod in the melodious romantic track composed by Anu Malik.

Where is Sharbani Mukerji?

While Suniel is still actively working in the film industry, his Border co-star Sharbani has stepped away from showbiz. The daughter of Rono Mukerji, she took a sabbatical from acting after 2015’s Malayalam film Namukkore Akasham. Sharbani had a brief acting career, unlike her cousins. Border was her debut. Following that, she did a song titled Ghar Aaja Sonia with Samir Soni. After a short career in Bollywood, she explored South cinema, especially Malayalam movies. She acted in Priyadarshan’s Raakilipattu with Jyothika, Tabu and Ishitta Arun. Sharbani played the lead in Sufi Paranja Katha, a critically acclaimed movie.

Who is Sharbani Mukerji?

Sharbani is the cousin of Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Ayan Mukerji. Her paternal grandfather was Sashadhar Mukherjee. The former actress’ father, director Rono Mukerji, passed away at the age of 83 on May 28, 2025, due to health issues. After quitting Bollywood, Sharbani is active at the Mukerji family’s Durga Puja pandal in Mumbai every year. Kajol, Rani and Ayan join her in celebrating the festival and making memories as a family at the pandal. The Durga Puja celebration in 2025 was emotional because Sharbani and Ayan lost their fathers months before the festival. Leaving her Bollywood and Mollywood career behind, Mukerji is now leading a quieter life away from the media’s attention. Not much about her personal life is out in the public domain. Reportedly, Sharbani has been married to businessman Sanjay Kapoor since 2003.

Though Sharbani quit Bollywood, she did a cameo in the Indie film Shadows of Mumbai in 2024. Despite acting in around 13 films, Border remains the most iconic.
