Comedian
Pranit More, who appeared on Salman Khan’s reality show Bigg Boss 19, has landed in a major controversy over remarks made by a man at his stand-up show. For those unaware of the row, Himanshu Jangra, who was in the audience, left netizens fuming after stating that he spent Rs 370 on biryani, implying that he expected his date to repay him with sexual favours. He openly spoke about what he wanted to do and how he was disappointed after the woman said no. Pranit, who seemed to be enjoying the "peak Gurgaon content," was brutally slammed online for enabling such behaviour and laughing at it. While he has apologised and taken the video down, the backlash has continued.
Elvish Yadav BLASTS BB19's Pranit More
The latest to criticise Pranit and Himashu is YouTuber and reality show personality Elvish Yadav. He tweeted on Wednesday,
"Rs 370 ki biryani ne do cheezein expose kar di: Ek aadmi ko laga consent ka MRP hota hai. Aur ek comedian ko laga har uncomfortable silence ko laughter track se bachaya ja sakta hai. Biryani toh dum pe bani thi, controversy ego pe."(Loose translation: The Rs 370 biryani exposed two things: One man thought consent came with a price tag. And one comedian believed every uncomfortable silence could be covered up with a laugh track. The biryani was cooked on slow heat, but the controversy was fueled by ego.)
Pranit More DELETES Instagram Amid Backlash
Earlier today, the comedian's Instagram handle disappeared from the photo-sharing app. Apparently, he seems to have deactivated his profile amid the backlash. Earlier, reacting to the flak, he
issued a statement on social media. Pranit said that he had seen the criticism regarding a recent crowdwork clip and clarified that the comments made by the audience member did not reflect his views. He admitted that, on reflection, he should have challenged the remark instead of laughing it off and moving on, calling it a lapse in judgment on his part.He further stated that he appreciated those who raised their concerns respectfully and sincerely apologised for the incident. He added that he would take the lesson forward and said that, as a human being, he was constantly learning. However, despite the apology, the backlash seems to be far from dying down. Recently, Disha Patani's sister Khushboo also slammed Pranit and the audience member. Meanwhile, the Gurgaon man has reportedly been fired from his job after the viral clip.
