What is the story about?
The
cast and crew behind the upcoming Harry Potter reboot series are taking fans behind the curtain. Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic, which depicts the making of Season 1 titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, will be out on April 5 on HBO and HBO Max. In India, the documentary will be available on JioHotstar. Besides glimpses of the new trio played by Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout, the documentary also shows off for the first time iconic locations like the Great Hall and Diagon Alley. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is set to premiere on December 25, 2026.
Harry Potter documentary offers sneak peek at Hogwarts
On social media, HBO revealed the first poster and trailer of the upcoming documentary Finding Harry, stating it gives viewers an exclusive look inside the series from the artists bringing it to life. Actor John Lithgow, who plays Albus Dumbledore; Janet McTeer, who is Minerva McGonagall; and Paapa Essiedu, who takes over as Severus Snape from the late Alan Rickman, all share their experiences of working on the film. The documentary will also likely reveal McLaughlin, Stanton and Stout all talking about playing Harry, Hermione and Ron, respectively.

Veteran actor Lithgow shares how the show is reimagining Harry Potter canon for a new generation. The series is currently being filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK, the same place where the eight Harry Potter films were made. The trailer shows the sets for the first time, taking fans inside Hogwarts and the magical wizarding world. The technicians share how they are bringing the books to life with new technology. The trailer ends with Lithgow getting emotional and adding, “You wait forever to do something that means that much to people.” More about the Harry Potter series The second season of Harry Potter is about to go into production shortly. Both Seasons 1 and 2 will likely have six episodes each. The upcoming seasons of the HBO series may have more episodes as the books become longer. Additional members of the cast include Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, and Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Harry's uncle and aunt. Warwick Davis reprises his role as Filius Flitwick, professor of Charms at Hogwarts, from the film series. Johnny Flynn, Bertie Carvel, Luke Thallon and Katherine Parkinson have been cast in recurring roles for the series.
