Parineeti
Chopra and Raghav Chadha welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on October 19 last year. The actress and her husband named their child Neer. Since then, she has been balancing motherhood and work. Recently, Zoom did an exclusive conversation with the Chamkila actress. During this interaction, Parineeti admitted that it isn't easy to balance both motherhood and work. Parineeti Chopra on motherhood, work
Parineeti stated that work improves motherhood and vice-versa. She even believes that work feels more fun now. Wondering why? The new mom told us, "I'm choosing the things that are amazing to me, are worth my time, and (I am) making choices that have no compromise in them. So I'm so happy at work. And equally, if there is something that is not a single second worth my time. I am proudly saying no, happily saying no, and spending all my time with my baby."
Having said that, the one clear rule for the
Ishaqzaade actress is that 'motherhood cannot be compromised at any cost'. "So, till and when and the way work allows that, I will work," added Parineeti. When asked if balancing both things is easy or difficult, the Bollywood actress said it isn't easy and can never be. According to her, motherhood is like 10 jobs in one and work is a full-time job. "It will never be easy. And that's why you choose the life that works for you. You choose the schedules that work for you." The actress admitted that she is only choosing the work that makes her happy and doesn't compromise a single second of her motherhood.
"I'm also that person who can easily say no to work if I feel it's going to hamper anything in my motherhood journey. So I'm taking it one day at a time. I think that's why I'm able to make good choices for myself. I don't think any mother who is doing both things, it can ever be easy. Even if you do just one thing, it's not easy. Motherhood in itself is a very difficult job," she expressed.
Parineeti Chopra on dealing with mum guilt
Continuing the freewheeling chat, Parineeti shared how she deals with mum guilt when she is at work and away from her son. The 37-year-old stated, "You have to put on your game face. You have to deliberately drown it out. I think it's absolutely impossible." She feels that mum guilt will always remain; however, if one chooses work as a part of their life, they know the consequences that come with it. "I'm not working 30 days a month. I'm not working the way I used to work last year. I'm only back part-time. And I'm going to see where time takes me. If I can do it smoothly, I will. If any one thing is getting compromised, I know what I'm going to choose," she said and signed off.On the work front, Parineeti will next be seen in the Netflix series
Talaash.
