actor Rajpal Yadav is currently facing a jail time after he surrendered himself in the Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case. Even after making partial payments, the actor was unable to return the entire loan amount. After the incident, fellow colleagues from the industry came forward to help the 'gifted actor'. Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Sonu Sood, Varun Dhawan and many others have provided financial aids while also helping in some way or the other. Now, acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan has announced to charge Yadav more than his usual payment in his upcoming film with Pankaj Tripathi.
Priyadarshan steps forward to support Rajpal Yadav
In a recent interview with
Mid-day, film director Priyadarshan has extended his support to Rajpal Yadav amid his check bounce case and imprisonment in Tihar Jail, Delhi. He mentioned that Jubilee Films (producer of their upcoming film) have agreed to pay an increased amount for the film than what he usually demands and "The producers have agreed. Rajpal plays the villain in my movie."
Priyadarshan further agreed that he knew about the situation and that was why he kept signing him in films. "I saw him for the first time in Jungle [2000] and was surprised by his performance. My first film with him was Malamaal Weekly (2006), and after that, he has starred in most of my films. I pushed him in ad films too. The poor guy made a blunder because of his poor education. Rajpal is a good soul," he concluded.
About the Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case
Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav recently surrendered himself at Tihar Jail and has been admitted into the establishment over cheque bounce case. The case recently came to light, but it has been going on since 2010, when he took a Rs 5 crore loan from a Delhi-based company to finance his directorial venture
Ata Pata Laapata. The film failed to perform at the box office, leaving him unable to repay the loan in full. Later, Rajpal and his wife sent checks for repayment, but they bounced, so the lender went to court. According to reports, the outstanding amount has increased to nearly Rs 9 crore over the years due to penalties and interest. The actor is serving a 6-month jail term in the case.
