The Korean stars IU and Byeon Woo-Seok were presenters at the 2025 MBC Drama Awards, where the first teaser of their upcoming show was shown to a cheering audience. Perfect Crown teaser featuring IU and Byeon Woo-Seok

The upcoming MBC series, earlier calledWife of a 21st Century Prince, takes place in an alternate version of modern Korea, which is ruled by a constitutional monarchy in the 21st century. Byeon Woo-Seok is Prince Yi Ahn, the second son from the royal family, and IU is Sung Hee-joo, a chaebol heiress deemed illegitimate and a commoner. What happens when the prince meets the commoner? Sparks fly, and a marriage plan is hatched up, between the mismatched couple.

The official synopsis for the show reveals, "The drama tells the story of chaebol heiress Sung Hee-Joo (IU) who is frustrated by her 'commoner' status despite having everything, and melancholic royal prince Lee Wan (Byeon Woo-Seok) whose royal blood is his only identity and he has nothing despite being the son of the king. They forge to build their own destinies in a romance that breaks down social class barriers."Noo Sang-Hyun, Gong Seung-Yeon, Yoo Su-bin, Lee Yeon, and Chae Seo-an make up the rest of the cast of Perfect Crown. Directed by Park Joon-hwa, Perfect Crown is set to release on MBC in spring 2026. It will also be streaming on Disney+; in India, it is likely to release on JioHotstar next year.
