Mira Murati's Thinking Machines Lab has brought a new AI system that is highly interactive and talks back to humans in real time. For those unaware, she is the former Chief Technology Officer of OpenAI and played a major role in the building of almost everything that the company offers to the users. The demo for the AI model created by Thinking Machines was posted on Tuesday, and it showed the working of a highly interactive AI that would work and talk with humans in real time without prompts. Furthermore, it will act like a perfect virtual companion for both professional and personal situations. Apart from that, the demo also shows the AI analysing the environment around a user and, based on its perception, giving inputs to the users. That's
not it, as the demo also showed that the Thinking Machine can do natural and asymmetric conversations with users as well, identical to humans. Thinking Machines wrote in a blog, “People are most effective when they can collaborate with AI the same way we do with other people: messaging, talking, listening, seeing, showing, and interjecting as needed — and for the model to do the same. Interaction models let people collaborate with AI the way we naturally collaborate with each other—they continuously take in audio, video, and text, and think, respond, and act in real time.'Musk Vs OpenAI Trial: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella Testifies, Here's What HappenedMira Murati said, 'Today we're sharing our work on interaction models. A new class of model trained from scratch to handle real-time interaction natively, instead of glueing it onto a turn-based one.'Talking about Mira, she is an Albanian and was a key figure in OpenAI until 2023, before her fallout with Sam Altman. For your information, Mira was a part of the Board, and she even served as the interim CEO for two days at OpenAI before Satya Nadella brought back Sam Altman. She started her own venture, Thinking Machines, in February 2025, and this could be dubbed the firm's biggest breakthrough to date.
