Ahaan Panday's debut film Saiyaara rewrote box office history in ways more than one. Co-starring Aneet Padda, the film became a nationwide phenomenon, turning out to be the highest-grossing film starring debutants.
While both Ahaan and Aneet gained overnight popularity with he Mohit Suri directorial, things were very different before the release of the film.Ahaan's cousin Ananya Panday recently recalled how she spoke to him just a few days before the release of Saiyaara and how nervous he was. At the India Film Project (IFP) Festival, Ananya stressed that no one can predict which film is going to work, "Even with my brother Ahaan’s film Saiyaara. Before that, no one even knew that this film was coming out. No one knew Ahaan. No one knew Aneet. And I remember speaking to Ahaan 3–4 days before the film was coming out. And he was just like, 'I don’t know what’s gonna happen. I hope people watch my film.' For me, success would be just being the best possible actor that I can be."Released in July, Saiyaara went on to collect over Rs 330 crore at the box office, thus becoming the highest-grossing romance film in the history of Hindi cinema.Meanwhile, up next, Ahaan will reportedly be seen in another YRF project - an action romance directed by Ali Abbas Zafar of Sultan fame. Sharvari is said to be co-starring in the untitled project. As for Ananya, she will be seen in with Kartik Aaryan in Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, set to release on December 25.
