Elon Musk is speeding up the work to make Optimus humanoid robots available for the masses. In the latest earnings call of Tesla, Musk said that the mass production of robots will being before the end of 2026. And to make sure that the same is not met with any delays, Tesla is shutting down production of Model S and Model X SUVs to free up the assembly line space and deliver the robots in the committed timeframe. Tesla is all set to bring the third-generation Optimus, which, as claimed by the company, will be unveiled in the first quarter of 2026. Tesla also said in the earning calls that the latest version of Optimus will be shipping with some major design upgrades as compared to its predecessor. The goal here is to produce more than a million
robots per year, which is pretty distinct from previous claims suggests that Musk want to make 5000 robots in 2026.Tesla CEO Elon Musk Says He Will Start Selling Humanoid Robots By 2027: What To Expect For those who are unaware, Optimus is designed by Tesla to help humans in everyday physical tasks like carrying items, assisting in the home and factories. The Tesla Bot has been designed to learn by observing human actions. Musk said in a tweet, 'It’s time to basically bring the Model S and X programs to an end with an honourable discharge, because we’re really moving into a future that is based on autonomy. Tesla will convert its Model S and Model X factory in Fremont, California, to produce the upcoming Optimus robot.'As for the costing, the Tesla robots will be priced somewhere around USD 20,000 to USD 30,000. And as said by Musk multiple times, the Optimus robot is projected to end poverty in the world. Now, that sounds like a far-fetched plan because it is almost beyond imagination how a bot that could cost approximately USD 20,000 will end poverty in the world.
