Malayalam actor Salim Kumar has passed away on June 6, 2026. He was 56 and had been admitted to a private hospital in Kochi where he was undergoing treatment for pneumonia. On Saturday morning, he had reportedly been placed on a ventilator following health complications. Unfortunately, during a treatment, he suffered a heart attack and passed away. For the unversed, Salim had been dealing with a health crisis for a long time before breathing his last at a private hospital in Kochi. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Chandu and Aaromal. His demise is indeed a big loss for the Malayalam film industry.
Salim Kumar Passes Away
According to the Manorama report, the doctors confirmed Salim Kumar’s death at 10:43 pm on Saturday. He was suffering from pneumonia. He was put on a ventilator after his health deteriorated. Sadly, he passed away on June 6. Salim Kumar’s funeral will be held on Sunday (June 7) in his hometown, Paravur. His mortal remains will be kept for last respects at Paravur Town Hall from 9 am onwards. As per reports, the chief minister of Keralam, VD Satheesan, will visit Paravur to pay his last respects to the departed soul.
About Salim Kumar
Salim Kumar was born on October 10, 1969, to Gangadharan and Kausalya in Chittattukara, Ernakulam. Salim did his higher education at SNM College, Malyankara. He joined Maharaja’s College for a degree to fulfil his dream of becoming an actor. He would do mimicry during his school days. In college, Kumar would take part in a lot of competitions. Due to his amazing talent, Salim Kumar won first prize in mimicry three times in a row at the MG University Art Festival.
In 1996, Salim Kumar married his girlfriend, Sunitha. He got the first call to act in films on the day of his wedding. He made his debut with the film Ishtamanu Nooru Vattam. However, Thenkasipattanam turned out to be a game changer for him. He later worked in several Malayalam, Tamil and other-language films. Some of his popular films are Kalyanaraman, CID Moosa, Mayavi, Meesha Madhavan, Thilakam, Pulivaal Kalyanam, Chathikatta Chandu, Chess, and so on. Salim Kumar had also directed a few films like Compartment, Karutha Joothan and Daivame Kaithozham K Kumarakanam. Salim worked with many actors like Dileep, Suresh Gopi, Kalabhavan Mani, Prithviraj Sukumaran and others. His fans have now started mourning his demise on social media.
