The
makers of Bengali television serial Bhole Baba Par Karega have finally issued an official statement addressing the tragic death of actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, shedding light on the sequence of events and the circumstances following his rescue. The production house expressed deep sorrow over the incident and clarified that after Banerjee was pulled out of the water alive, immediate medical assistance was sought. However, they revealed that no doctor was available at the nearby clinic where he was first taken.

Through their detailed statement released on Wednesday, PIT reported that the producers said the entire cast and crew are in “profound mourning” following the untimely demise of their colleague and friend. Rahul Banerjee, 43, reportedly drowned during a shoot at Talsari beach in Odisha’s Baleswar district on March 29. According to the production house, preliminary findings suggest that the actor was rescued alive and was even attempting to communicate at the time. He was initially rushed to a local clinic in Talsari, but shockingly, no doctor was present to attend to him. He was then shifted to Digha State General Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The makers have urged for patience, stating that they need a few days to gather accounts from those present during the incident in a neutral and structured manner. They also said that they are committed to transparency and revealed that a comprehensive report would be prepared after reviewing all testimonies. In a significant move, the production house also invited a representative nominated by Banerjee’s family, friends or the West Bengal Motion Picture Artists' Forum to be part of the inquiry process to ensure fairness.

Addressing media speculation, the producers refuted claims that the actor remained underwater for an extended period, calling such reports 'in all probability incorrect'. They assured that all relevant documents, permissions and communications with authorities would be made available as part of the investigation.The statement further added that director Saibal Banerjee, who was in Mumbai at the time of the incident, rushed to Kolkata immediately after learning about the incident and visited the actor’s residence the same night.Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association has demanded a high-level probe into the matter. The body has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging lack of safety measures on set and seeking strict action, including the filing of an FIR under murder charges against those involved.
