Aditya Dhar’s latest directorial venture, Dhurandhar, turned out to be a blockbuster at the box office. In a recent X post, he mentioned that his inspiration is director Ram Gopal Varma. He also gave credit
to RGV for Dhurandhar’s success. In the heartwarming note, Aditya stated, ‘Dhurandhar could run because you walked’. His statements show how much the URI director admires Ram Gopal Varma and his work. Now, the Satya director has reacted to his statement and explained how he took risks in his career. For the unversed, RGV was known for making path-breaking gangster dramas back in the 90s and early 2000s.

Aditya Dhar took to his X handle and penned a note for Ram Gopal Varma and mentioned that he has been his inspiration since childhood. For the unversed, RGV made his directorial debut with the film Shiva (1989), starring Nagarjuna Akkineni and Amala. It turned out to be a massive hit at the box office. Taking inspiration from him, Aditya Dhar started directing films. In his note, the Dhurandhar director wrote, “Ramu sir, you took the risks when it was the hardest!! At a time when there were no templates, no safety nets and no guarantee that things would work. Dhurandhar could run because you walked first sir. Some paths don’t end with applause. They end in creating a legacy!” *(sic)
Reacting to his words, Ram Gopal Varma said, “Well Sir , to tell you the truth , I took those risks because I din’t know those were risks due to my ignorance..Whether it is out of arrogance or confidence , I just went ahead with my conviction and when it worked they said it’s vision , and when it dint they said it’s blindness.” (sic)In a recent interview, Aditya Dhar also said, “I came to Mumbai years ago carrying one suitcase, one dream, and an unreasonable belief that I would one day work under Ram Gopal Varma. That never happened. But somewhere along the way, without knowing it, I worked inside your cinema. Your films didn’t teach me how to make movies — they taught me how to think dangerously." Well, Aditya Dhar is truly in love with Ram Gopal Varma’s craft. After all, the director has made some iconic movies, such as Shiva, Raat, Kaun, Satya, Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Company and so on. Coming back to Dhurandhar, the film has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the box office. It features Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Saumya Tandon, Gaurav Gera, Rakesh Bedi, Danish Pandor, Naveen Kaushik and others in key roles.
