Even
before its trailer hits screens, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has already emerged as one of the most aggressively positioned Indian films in the global marketplace. Headlined by Rocking Star Yash, the film has locked in massive pre-release deals that signal extraordinary confidence from overseas distributors. With Dhurandhar 2 scheduled to clash with it theatrically in March 2026, the contest is quickly shaping up to be a high-stakes battle where smart strategy may matter as much as star power and audience interest.
Toxic's record-breaking international deal
According to a report in
Hollywood Reporter India,
Toxic has secured a record overseas distribution deal, with Phars Film acquiring the international rights to the film’s Indian-language versions for an advance of Rs 105 crore. This agreement applies to the Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam versions of the film. The English-language version has been kept out of the deal, which shows the scale of demand for the Indian-language releases alone.
Phars Film is considered one of the most dominant players in overseas territories and will handle
Toxic’s release across major international markets. The new deal is being described as one of the highest overseas acquisitions for an Indian film on a commission basis. What makes the deal even more striking is that it has been finalised at a stage when the film is still in early promotional phases, with no teaser, trailer released so far. The lead actors' first look, including Yash, has already created massive hype.
Toxic is being planned as one of the widest international rollouts ever attempted for an Indian film. The release is scheduled across most global territories, excluding Nepal, Japan and China. Such an expansive overseas footprint could play a decisive role in the film’s box office performance outside India.
The Rs 105 crore overseas deal follows another major pre-release milestone that has already set
Toxic apart. Earlier this year, the film became the first non-Telugu production to bag a Rs 120 crore distribution deal in the Andhra Pradesh Telangana market. The film is written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas and directed by Mohandas. It has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in multiple Indian languages to maximise reach.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge vs Toxic
All eyes are now on the looming clash with
Dhurandhar 2. The second instalment of the franchise is slated for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026, with its OTT premiere reportedly lined up for the second week of May 2026 on Jio Hotstar. On the same day,
Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups will arrive in cinemas worldwide, setting up a direct face-off.
With massive money riding on both films, the
Dhurandhar 2 versus
Toxic clash is no longer only about fandom wards or opening-day collection. It is a battle of screens, overseas reach, and pre-release hype. While
Dhurandhar 2 brings franchise strength to the table,
Toxic’s Rs 105 crore overseas deal gives Yash’s film a clear edge.
