Stranger Things fans are not ready to let go of the Netflix sho even after a week of its finale. While the series marked its finale with season 5, episode 8 titled The Rightside Up after a 9-year-long run, several viewers believe there's a secret episode 9, which will turn the tables on the ending of the sci-fi, supernatural show. Showrunners the Duffer Brothers showed the Hawkins gang killing Vecna and defeating the Mind Flayer, they wrote a rather fateful end to Eleven who's track was left on a cliffhanger. As fans continue to ponder over what actually happened with El, they've been digging out Easter eggs towards the actual end, which the makers have not revealed yet. And this debate has led to what they call the 'Conformity Gate' theory,
for which we even have a dedicated website now.
Mysterious website with a countdown
As posts about the Conformity Gate theory continue to go viral, a post was discovered on social media with a text in French that translated to, "Where is he hiding from us?"When fans dug deeper into the message, they found a mysterious website under the domain name of November61987.com on January 7 with a countdown leading to the "secret episode 9." As per netizens, the site was registered a day ago and the date refers to a key moment in the show's timeline.
The red digital countdown comes with the text "Do you believe?" along with an interactive button labelled 'I believe.' Though no explaination or announcement explains the existence of the website, it surely has fuelled up excitement. Netizens claim the website is from Netflix's end as a tease for a hidden ninth episode. However, many wonder if the countdown would end with the release of the episode.
Morse code and the hidden message
Meanwhile, some fans have come up with a hidden Morse code in one of the scenes of
Stranger Things. According to them in the scene where Maya Hawke's Robin Buckley talks about the collection of vintage records in the radio station, the stack of cassette tapes behind her holds a secret text. They believe the pattern of dots and dashes in the stack forms a real Morse code. When Netizens solved it, it gave out a chilling message that read, "U DID NOT STOP ME." The theory was popularised by an X (formerly Twitter) user named @AmericaOne21474 whose post went viral. Following that, fans started demanding Netflix to reveal episode 9.
Many in the audience continue to believe in the secret episode, while others claim it is a marketing gimmick to arouse curiosity for future spin-offs. Neither Netflix, not the
Stranger Things team has reacted to the theories as yet.
