In an interview with Sucharita Tyagi, Anurag said that in India, there is an obsession with
Cannes. Sadly, it is focused mainly on walking the red carpet, while the real purpose of the festival is often ignored, opined the
Maharaja actor. He added that people do not understand that Cannes is primarily about cinema, not just appearances. When asked why he was not seen on the opening day, he said that they usually enter from the side instead of posing on the red carpet. He further stated that the red carpet is the least important part of Cannes and the focus should be on films. He also mentioned that many Indian attendees at the Cannes market are not actually even watching films. Kashyap added that misinformation is common in India and producers often fear festivals, which leads to delays that cause films to miss important screening opportunities.
