She added, “It's not just been a physical transformation for me. I have transformed completely. I know how to handle stress now. I've mastered the art. It is staying non-reactive, and it is not expecting much from people. I put myself first. I take care of myself first because I feel that if I don't feel well, then everybody around me will be irritated because that is the energy I will carry. It's very important, especially for women, to tell others that when they’re not feeling okay. Half the time women just feel that this feeling is normal. That being overworked is normal. Times have changed now, and women should step up to think about themselves first. They should never feel guilty about looking after themselves first.” Mona further stated, “Even when we travel by air, we are always told that in emergency situations, wear your oxygen mask first and then attend to your child. We keep neglecting our own health and I don't understand why.”Addressing important wellness issues
When asked whether society is changing in terms of normalising discussions around menstrual health among women, Mona said, “It's not just in India. Every woman worldwide has been questioning why discussions around periods, menopause and mood swings can be an issue.” The actress lauded fellow female celebrities for creating awareness. She shared, “I'm glad that celebrities now are addressing these issues and creating awareness. Otherwise, women in tier 2 sectors will not have any awareness and think of it as normal. When you look up to a certain celebrity who endorses this kind of app and mental health, emotional wellness, talking about periods, and talking about hormones, it's just creating more awareness. More women who people look up to should come out and start addressing and normalise these issues.”Mona lauds Deepika Padukone
Lauding Deepika Padukone for addressing mental health issues, Mona told us, “Every woman celebrity should address these issues. Deepika Padukone has addressed so many issues about mental health. I feel very happy to see these big names coming out and addressing these issues because it does make a difference. You're creating awareness. You're letting people know that it's okay to let people know that you're not feeling okay.” Mona is among those celebrities who is spreading awareness about mental health and wellbeing.Do you find this article useful?
