Deshmukh’s Raja Shivaji is releasing in theatres this Friday. The advance booking window for the film opened on Monday (April 27). Based on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the rise of the Maratha kingdom, the historical drama has garnered attention and interest of the audience. As per early trends, Raja Shivaji has taken a good start with the pre-sales. The bilingual film clashes with Junaid Khan-Sai Pallavi’s Ek Din and Meryl Streep’s The Devil Wears Prada 2. Despite the box office competition, Raja Shivaji is showing promise at the ticket counters.

With three days left for its theatrical release, Raja Shivaji’s early predictions hint at a successful first weekend. With May 1 being a holiday, the film gets a long weekend to draw the audience to theatres. According to Sacnilk’s early estimates, the historical drama has sold 13,221 tickets. The reported gross sale was Rs 34.03 lakh. With blocked seats, it went up to Rs 57.46 lakh.

Raja Shivaji brings together an ensemble including Abhishek Bachchan as Sambhaji Shahaji Maharaj (Shivaji Maharaj's brother), Sachin Khedekar as Shahaji Raje Bhosale, Bhagyashree as Jijabai, Vidya Balan as Badi Begum (Adilshah's wife), Fardeen Khan as Shah Jahan, Jitendra Joshi as Pant, Amol Gupte as Adilshah and Genelia Deshmukh as Sai Bai.

Mounted on a budget of Rs 100 crore, Raja Shivaji has to earn over Rs 200 crore in its lifetime to be a profitable venture. Reportedly, Riteish, who is also the director, is charging Rs 15 to Rs 18 crore. Sanjay Dutt’s fee is said to be between Rs 8 to Rs 10 crore whereas Abhishek Bachchan’s remuneration could be between Rs 6 to Rs 8 crore. Genelia Deshmukh, who is also the producer, is taking home Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore. Mahesh Manjrekar has reportedly received Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore. Bhagyashree’s fee is reportedly Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore. Fardeen Khan apparently received Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore. Raja Shivaji, according to Riteish, has been with him for 10 years. After a long wait, the film kicked off in 2023. Following a long shoot schedule and challenges that the team endured, Raja Shivaji finally releases in theatres. Raja Shivaji releases in Marathi, Hindi and Telugu on May 1, which is celebrated as Maharashtra Day or International Labour Day.
