Bengali director Anik Dutta passed away tragically on May 27, leaving behind a massive void. Along with fans, the entire Bengali film industry is mourning the demise of the beloved filmmaker. Speaking to Zoom, Prosenjit Chatterjee said that he is not able to come to terms with the fact that Anik Dutta is no more.

Anik Dutta's demise came as a huge shock for fans and fraternity members alike. Admitting to being in a state of disbelief, Prosenjit Chatterjee told us, "I do not know what to say. I am not being able to come to terms with the fact that Anik is no more and that too in such a manner. This is a huge loss for the Bengali film industry. I am still not being able to wrap my head around the news that Anik Dutta is no more. I have still not been able to think normally since getting the news."
Prosenjit further added, "He was not only a good filmmaker but he was an extremely intelligent individual who could regale you with stories. The passing of such a talent in such an uncanny manner is extremely shocking. I am at a loss for words I have known him for many years."Recalling his time with the Bhooter Bhabishyat director, Prosenjit said that his creativity will live forever. "We are of the same age. We have spent so many years together, I have so many memories of him. I believe all his works will live with us and Bengali film industry will never let him be forgotten. I can say that with uncertainty. He has given us memorable works and creations and wherever you are, please stay well Anik. This is all I can say as a friend," he remarked.

Anik Dutta passed away on Wednesday, May 27, after falling from the terrace of his home in Hindustan Park, Kolkata. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Dhakuria in critical condition but could not survive his injuries. His death sent shockwaves through the Bengali film industry.Dutta was best known for directing celebrated films such as Bhooter Bhabishyat, Borunbabur Bondhu, Aparajito, and Joto Kando Kolkatatei. He was widely respected for his thoughtful storytelling and his connection to Bengali culture and cinema. Reports also indicate that he had been dealing with serious respiratory problems for a long time.At the time of his passing, Dutta had been living alone at his Kolkata residence for several months. His daughter, who currently lives in Mumbai, was not with him.
