With
over 700 million streams, the Brahmastra (2022) song Kesariya used to be the most streamed Indian song of all time on Spotify. A new song holds that honour, but singer Arijit Singh factors in both times. The heartbreak anthem Agar Tum Saath Ho from Tamasha has overtaken Kesariya by crossing 717 million streams. While Kesariya is an Arijit solo song, Agar Tum Saath Ho is a duet between veteran singer Alka Yagnik and Arijit. Here's all you need to know about both Bollywood tracks, which have a special place in listeners' playlists.
Agar Tum Saath Ho beats out Kesariya on Spotify
According to the data released by Spotify, Agar Tum Saath Ho from Imtiaz Ali's
Tamasha is now the most-streamed song on Spotify in India. Until this February, that honour used to belong to another Arijit Singh hit song
Kesariya from Ayan Mukerji's mythological film Brahmastra. Interestingly,
Agar Tum Saath Ho is not a new song; it is even older than
Kesariya. The latter is composed by Pritam and written by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
Composed by AR Rahman and written by Irshad Kamil,
Agar Tum Saath Ho, featured on Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, is a poignant ballad about loss and heartbreak. The music album is considered one of the best for the trio of Ali, Rahman and Kamil who often collaborate together. At the Filmfare Awards, Rahman and Alka Yagnik were nominated for Best Music Director and Best Female Playback Singer, respectively. But it was lyricist Irshad Kamil who took home the trophy for Best Lyricist for the Tamasha music album.
Agar Tum Saath Ho has remained on Spotify’s Top Songs chart in India for 363 weeks. Apparently, there are a lot of heartbroken citizens of India who have this song on repeat, as its daily count comes in at 471,396. It entered the charts in June 2019 and never budged since then.
Agar Tum Saath Ho now has 717 million streams and counting.
