Rajinikanth has arrived in Kochi, Kerala, to resume filming for the much-awaited action sequel Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. This crucial schedule brings the project closer to completion as the team gears up for a mid-2026 release, with June 2026 set as the release window. The sequel follows the massive success of Jailer (2023), which emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. Notably, the climax of the first film was shot at Athirappilly Falls in Kerala, making the region an important part of the franchise and hinting that key sequences which may be even the climax portions.

Sources suggest that the Kochi schedule will feature some of the sequel’s most high-octane action sequences. Rajinikanth reprises his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, a former jailer. His arrival in God's Own Country has naturally created a buzz among fans, with photos and videos from his arrival circulating online. These viral moments have further heightened excitement as the film moves into its final phase of production. Expanding its strong pan-Indian appeal, Jailer 2 boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Actors Vinayakan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Santhanam, Mithun Chakraborty, and Meghana Raj Sarja are part of the project. Actor Vijay Sethupathi has also confirmed a special appearance in the film, adding to the anticipation surrounding the sequel. Ramya Krishnan returns in her role, while Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar are set to make cameo appearances, further amplifying the film’s buzz.

Malayalam actress Anna Rajan is another notable addition to the cast.
