Madalsa Sharma, who shot to fame with the role of Kavya in Rupali Ganguly’s Anupamaa, quit the show after playing the iconic character for four years. In a recent interview, Madalsa shared the real reason
behind quitting the Rajan Shahi-produced show. She said that because of the leap, she quit Anupamaa.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Madalsa Sharma confessed that she received a lot of love from the masses for her character, Kavya. The actress said, “I got many film and web series offers. Due to my commitment to a TV show, I couldn't do any other shows. I did it for four years, and after five years, Anupamaa is still number 1. So, we were lucky. I thought I was not losing so much. I was getting a beautiful response from the audience for my character, Kavya.” When asked about the reason behind quitting Anupamaa, Madalsa Sharma said, “Well, after 4 years, you have seen this story. Our makers, the writers, Rajan sir, everybody – they are excellent when it comes to storytelling. At such a time, especially for Anupamaa, which the makers have run so well for so long, I feel that after 4 years, it was also the makers’ feeling that maybe they want to take a leap,” Madalsa added. While elaborating about her decision to quit Anupamaa, Mithun Chakraborty’s daughter-in-law said, “In the past, the show had a 2-year leap, a 1-year leap, and a 6-month leap. After 15 years, your look will change, everything about you will change, and the dynamics around you will change completely. So then Rajan sir and I mutually decided. It’s been 4 years, and since they are taking a 15-year leap, I also thought that now it’s time to move on and explore many more beautiful opportunities in life.” Let us tell you, Anupamaa is still at number 1 on the TRP list every week.
