Samay Raina vs Sunil Pal on Kapil Sharma's show
The World Laughter Day special episode shows Kapil Sharma trying to play peacemaker between the two comedians. When he welcomed Sunil on the show Beer Biceps aka Ranveer hugged Sunil, but Samay looked baffled. He casually asks Sunil Pal if he has forgiven Samay Raina. However, things quickly take a comedic turn.
Sunil Pal folds his hands and responds politely at first but soon takes a subtle dig at Samay’s brand of comedy. Comparing traditional poetic gatherings to modern stand-up, he remarks that while one celebrates refinement and figures like Ghalib, Samay’s space is filled with profanity. The comedian saus, "Main ye kehta hu ki adab ki mehfil ho, pyaar karo Ghalib ko, aur inki mehfil ho toh sirf gaali bako." The comment gets immediate laughter, but Samay is just as quick on his feet.In a sharp comeback, Samay quips that whatever abusive language he has learned actually comes from Sunil Pal’s videos. When that confuses Kapil, who says that Pal does not abuse, Samay wittily replies, "Nahi ye nahi, inke video pe comments se seekhi maine gaali." The punchline lands perfectly, triggering loud reactions from both the live audience and Archana Puran Singh.
Rather than diffusing the situation, Kapil Sharma leans into the banter, encouraging both comedians to continue. The segment soon evolves into a playful roast battle. Samay doesn’t hold back, joking about Sunil Pal’s public appearances and even poking fun at his footwear choices, saying he is more used to seeing slippers than shoes unless they are being thrown at him. Samay also said that after following the show for 15 years, he found Archana not laughing for the first time - all thanks to Pal's jokes.
Why are Sunil Pal and Samay Raina fighting?
This on-stage banter did not come out of nowhere. The tension between Samay Raina and Sunil Pal had been brewing for a while. Sunil had earlier criticised Samay’s show
India’s Got Latent, calling for a return to 'clean comedy' just like Kapil Sharma. He had also called Samay Raina a terrorist along with Munawar Faruqui and Ranveer Allahbadia. Samay too has had the choicest of words for Sunil, calling him 'frustrated' and questioning his mindset. While neither comedian fully backed down, the exchange was within the bounds of comedy on Th Great Indian Kapil Show.
