December 7, Vikram Bhatt and his wife, Shwetambari Bhatt, were arrested by the Rajasthan Police in Mumbai. They were taken to Udaipur to be produced before the court. As per reports, the couple has been accused of defrauding Udaipur-based Dr Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira Group of Companies, of Rs 30 crore. According to the latest development, the court had denied their request for bail on medical grounds, sending them back to judicial custody. The filmmaker has suffered another setback now.
Vikram Bhatt's Bail Plea Rejected By Rajasthan HC
According to the latest report by PTI, the Rajasthan High Court on Monday rejected the bail plea of Vikram and others, seeking the quashing of a cheating FIR lodged against them. The court noted that the case prima facie points toward deliberate diversion and misappropriation of funds, warranting further criminal investigation. In its order, the High Court said, "The allegations are not confined merely to non-performance of a contract; they involve deliberate diversion of funds, lack of transparency, and elements of dishonesty. The preliminary inquiry has revealed evidence of fake invoices and the circulation of funds."

In a statement to ANI, advocate Manzoor Hussain earlier said, "The lawyer for the accused presented an application for interim bail, requesting that it be granted on medical grounds. If interim bail is granted before the court session ends, both individuals could be released for a short period to receive medical treatment. Everything depends on the court's order."DSP Suryaveer Singh further told the news agency, "The court has ordered to keep them in judicial custody. They will now be sent to the Central Jail in Udaipur." According to the FIR filed at Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Dr Murdia alleged that Vikram and his team lured him into investing more than Rs 30 crore in a film project. They allegedly assured him that the film would generate profits of up to Rs 200 crore. The project was said to be a biographical film meant to pay tribute to Dr Murdia’s late wife.
