The film was scheduled to release on May 14, but was postponed by a day. As Karuppu’s theatrical run is coming to an end, it will be streaming on OTT this month. The date has been locked, and the platform is all set to witness another record-breaking run. Karuppu is one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time.

When and where to watch Karuppu on OTT

According to reports, Karuppu will be premiering on Amazon Prime Video on June 12. According to their policy, the film will be available for streaming from midnight. All subscribers of the OTT platform can watch the Tamil actioner at home.

About Karuppu

Karuppu’s central conflict revolves around Karuppan (Suriya) and Baby Kannan (RJ Balaji). It is the modern interpretation of the age-old God-versus-Devil narrative. Set in a contemporary world, the film suggests that the real battle between good and evil exists within human hearts today. Karuppu tells the story of an advocate who happens to be the human form of the guardian deity Karuppusamy. The film follows the advocate’s journey to wipe corruption from the judicial system. Karuppu is based on a screenplay by Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, TS Gopi Krishnan and Karan Aravind Kumar.Karuppu also stars Yogi Babu, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, and RJ Balaji in key roles. Suriya has a dual-shaded character, connected to themes of justice and the folk deity Karuppasamy. The film marks Suriya and Trisha’s reunion after a long time.

Why was Karuppu's release delayed

The film’s release was delayed by a day after financiers, exhibitors and distributors allegedly incurred losses due to the production house's past films. People who booked tickets for May 14’s First Day First Show were left stranded because the theatrical release was postponed at the last minute. With no clear picture of its confirmed release, fans were disappointed. An emotional RJ Balaji issued a statement apologising to the audience for the unexpected hurdle.

Karuppu's success token

When Karuppu released a day later, the audience filled theatres and gave Suriya’s film their full support. Worldwide, the action thriller crossed the Rs 300 crore mark. As a mark of gratitude, Suriya gifted cars to the core team of the film. Cinematographer GK Vishnu, Sai Abhyankkar, cinematographer GK Vishnu and editor Selvamani received new Mahindra BE6 Batman edition cars.
