The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has officially confirmed that the existing mAadhaar app will soon be discontinued. In its place, users are now being encouraged to shift to the newly launched Aadhaar app, which the authority says offers a faster, more secure and more flexible digital experience. The announcement was shared through UIDAI’s official X account, where the authority described the new platform as a “smarter, faster, and more secure digital journey.” The updated Aadhaar app is already available on both Android and iPhone through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. What’s New In The Aadhaar App?The new Aadhaar app arrives with numerous upgraded features focused on privacy, biometric security and easier identity
verification. One major addition is QR-based Aadhaar sharing, which allows users to verify identity without exposing their full Aadhaar number. The updated Aadhaar app introduces a feature called “Selective Share.” This allows citizens to decide exactly what information they want to share during verification. The app also supports offline verification through QR codes that can be scanned at authorised terminals.UIDAI says the platform now supports 13 Indian languages to improve accessibility across different regions.
