Jameel Khan on working with Anant Joshi on Gullak 5
In an interview with us, Jameel Khan shared that nothing really changed in the cast even though
Anant Joshi replaced actor Vaibhav Raj Gupta in the role of Annu Mishra. He said, "The character hasn't changed. For me, it's, it's the same."The actor shared their fantastic connection as they spoke about their days in Nainital. Jameel shared, "He's also Pahadi guy. And my entire schooling was in Sherwood Nainital. That Pahadi connection ho hi jata hai. Even though my wife says I have a great fondness for the hills. And if I find somebody from my school, then I go on to the back burner; you guys carry on."
This season, viewers also meet Santosh's brother-in-law, Pinky, aka Pramod (Gopal Datt), for the first time. The characters famously do not get allow (Santosh keeps calling him fraudiya) but Jameel revealed that his character maintained calm when Pinky came over for a visit. He elaborated, "Obviously he has his love-hate relationship with Pinky, but I think Santosh Mishra has in a very dignified manner handled the whole situation, keeping the comedy and the fun element intact. Though in the previous seasons, we've seen him lampooning left, right and center, when he does arrive at his doorstep, he's also his wife's brother, and it's a guest at home."
Memorable impact of Gullak on Jameel Khan
The actor revealed that since he had been doing the show now for several years, it was hard for him to recall what happened in each episode from each season. He shared that he has a very short-lived memory, especially working on several projects in a year. But Jameel stressed that the family scenes from Gullak always had a soft spot in his heart.

He explained, "One of the things that leaves an indelible impression on me is when everyone in the family is ready to sacrifice something. Which is what a family should be... sacrifice may be too strong a word, but maybe it is the apt word. Because sacrifice becomes a very loaded word. I suppose you turn around and tell my children tomorrow how much I sacrifice for you. I didn't sacrifice anything. I did it out of my own will. And that is what gives me joy. And so I wouldn't call it sacrifice; it's what gives me joy. And that is the joy of giving that you will see in the season. And that is what I live by too personally. It has a very memorable impact on me." Gullak, which is co-directed by Abhay Raut and Shreyansh Pandey, is now streaming on SonyLIV. The seven-part fifth season also stars Geetanjali Kulkarni, Harsh Mayar and Sunita Rajwar.
