OpnenAI Is Facing Seven Lawsuits Alleging ChatGPT Pushed People To Suicide And Delusions

The problems for OpenAI are not only related to the use of content but different sources, but something way more serious than that. As of now, OpenAI is facing around seven lawsuits against ChatGPT regarding

its contribution to causing suicides and psychological harm in users who previously had zero mental health issues. The cases, filed in California state courts, allege wrongful deaths, involuntary manslaughter, negligence, and assisted suicide.The complaints have been brought to light by the Tech Justice Law Project and Social Media Victims Law Center on representing six cases of teenagers and one of an adult. According to the complaints, OpenAI dropped GPT-4o even after having internal red flags related to the AI model being overly agreeable and psychologically manipulative, due to which four individuals have died by suicide. One of the cases includes Amaurie Lacey, whose family has said that he turned to ChatGPT seeking help, but instead became addicted and depressed due to the chatbot. It has been claimed that the chatbot advised him on learning self-harm methods. ChatGPT has been accused of the same stuff in the past as well, and this comes as a major setback for the AI model. In the future, OpenAI will be supposed to set better guardrails to make sure that their AI model is not becoming the all things guru that it pretends to be most of the time.
